The love for vintage watches nearly always stems from the stories they tell. This beautiful Rolex Day-Date from 1973 wears its history proudly on the dial; instead of the usual declaration of chronometer certification, is instead a bold black crowned Khanjar, symbol for the nation of Oman. Presented by the famously generous late Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said. These Rolex’s were specially commissioned through Asprey in London and over the years have become some of the most collectable and sought after watches across the globe. This example, with its later fluted bezel, is remarkably complete with the original Khanjar printed Rolex box, original certificate confirming the Asprey provenance and service history through celebrated UK royal jeweller, Boodle & Dunthorne which tells us at some point the watch returned to UK shores, presumably when the more ‘low-key’ bezel was fitted. In superb condition, the dial shows no signs of mis-handling or restoration, whilst the case remains full and fat with crisp hallmarks completing the story.
Located in the heart of Swiss Watchmaking in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Graham is often described as "Avant-garde" and the Swordfish remains a unique and distinctive design. One of a limited edition of 100 pieces, this Swordfish has an element of stealth, coated in inky black PVD with contrasting orange hour markers. Found complete with full accessories, the watch presents itself extremely well. Nuanced and striking with its two 20% magnifying glasses over the hour and minute counters, the Swordfish is a superb reference that expresses the DNA of a brand with a rich history and that remains privately owned.
Model: Cosmograph Daytona
Striking and perhaps the perfect summer watch, this Daytona 116518LN harks back to the great yellow gold 6263s of the past, but with the added practicality of the Oysteflex bracelet. Complete with full accessories and found in "as-new" condition this modern interpretation of the Jet Set Daytona is the perfect addition to any collection.
Model: 1941 Principia
The Grönefeld 1941 Principia Automatic is offered with an array of dials, all crafted in solid sterling silver. The present example is fitted with a cream lacquered dial with roman numerals that complement the beautifully crafted pink gold 1941 case. Named after the year their father Sjef was born, the 1941 case exudes grace from every angle. A sapphire case back is fitted to provide a spectacular view on the extensively hand finished movement with their well known stainless steel bridges and a 22K solid gold oscillating weight. Complete with full accessories.
